A friend's demon/angel/Fallen/whatever character, Ashlar.

I despise a lot of things about this picture. The clouds, the waves, and especially the wings made of water. I don't have the slightest idea of how to 'paint' water like that. I think this is one of those learning experiences..

Background (mostly) Painter, foreground things Photoshop. Had to do all sorts of things to keep Photoshop's smoothness from clashing with Painter's texture.

I think the water looks beautiful and fits with the rest of the style. His face is just -perfect-. He looks so realistic..And the waves look fine to. As for the clouds..Maybe toning down the yellowness in them would help or something? I donno..The whole image looks fine as is so +fav ofcourse!

Even if you despised how the turned out, the clouds and water are recognisably what they are, and that does definitely count.

Possibly more surface light effects on the sea itself? The light source that's making the clouds so awesome might provide more of a 'sunset litter of gold' sort of look.

As for the wings, I have no idea. Pretty much everything I've seen animate water in film has been awful CG that makes it look more like jell-o than, you know, water.

I'm not a huge fan of the background water... the waves don't match the style you used ont he person, I think. However, his facial expression and his hair is just awesome as all hell. I really like the water in the foreground and wouldn't mind knowing how you did it!

Ah, gorgeous. I love the atmosphere and the mood. I don't think you did a bad job on the water wings. Their drippiness is very nice. Frankly the different textures in the piece aren't bad, either. His hair looks soft, skin smooth, so the choppiness of the water is a nice contrast.

Oh damn, the water looks awesome. I'm realllly impressed with the water wings, the cool colors of the face and background, as well as the figure and expression. This is just beautiful.

gah, his face is so smooth and icy and perfect- the coloring is amazing, the bg fits so well... his hair is gorgeous O_O even the water looks great. <333
